On 28 May 2026, Kyrgyzstan hosted a regional seminar in Bishkek titled "Enhancing the Conservation of Birds of Prey in Central Asia." The event brought together online and in person, eighty government officials, international experts, and conservation organizations to strengthen cooperation on protecting migratory birds of prey across Central Asia.
Andy Raine - New Executive Secretary of CMS and ASCOBANS
Andy Raine has been appointed as Executive Secretary of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), effective Monday, 1 June 2026. In his role, Mr. Raine will also serve as the Executive Secretary of the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic, North East Atlantic, Irish and North Seas (ASCOBANS).

Les Parties à la Convention sur la conservation des espèces migratrices appartenant à la faune sauvage (CMS) ont soumis des propositions visant à ajouter 42 nouvelles espèces migratrices aux Annexes de la Convention en tant qu'espèces nécessitant une conservation internationale. En raison de l'augmentation de sa population, il est proposé de retirer une espèce, le Cerf élaphe du Turkestan, de la liste des espèces nécessitant la plus haute protection.
